This upcoming conversation features two visionary economists: Amanda Janoo, Economics and Policy Lead at the Wellbeing Economy Alliance, and Jayati Ghosh, renowned development economist and recipient of the 2023 Galbraith Award for her contributions to humanity. Together, they will explore how systems thinking can reshape economic paradigms to prioritize equity, sustainability, and collective wellbeing. This dialogue promises to delve into transformative ideas that challenge conventional economic models and highlight the critical role of women in leading systemic change. Jayati Ghosh
Jayati Ghosh is a leading economist and Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, after nearly 35 years at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. She has authored 20 books and over 200 articles on global inequality, feminist economics, and development, including Never Done and Poorly Paid and Women Workers in the Informal Economy. She advises international organizations such as the UN, ILO, WHO, and UN Women, and serves on the UN High-Level Advisory Boards on Economic and Social Affairs and Effective Multilateralism. Her many honors include the 2023 John Kenneth Galbraith Award, the ILO’s Decent Work Research Prize, and the NordSud Prize. Ghosh is a powerful voice for economic justice in both scholarly and public discourse.
Amanda Janoo
Amanda Janoo is a visionary economist and policy expert dedicated to transforming economic systems to prioritize human and planetary wellbeing. As the Economics & Policy Lead at the Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll), she works with governments, civil society, and international organizations to redefine progress and advance economic policies that prioritize human and ecological flourishing over endless growth. Prior to joining WEAll, Amanda worked as an industrial policy expert for UNIDO, the African Development Bank, and GIZ, and is currently an Family Economic Security Fellow with New America. A Fulbright Scholar and graduate of Cambridge University, Amanda is known for making complex economic ideas accessible and inspiring. She brings both technical expertise and visionary thinking to conversations about the future of our economies.

Helena Norberg-Hodge
HELENA NORBERG-HODGE, linguist, author, filmmaker and pioneer of the new economy movement, is the founder and director of Local Futures. Based on decades of experience in indigenous cultures, in particular Ladakh and Bhutan, Helena has been promoting a big picture understanding of the foundations of human, as well as ecological wellbeing. Her work has gained her the Alternative Nobel prize, the Arthur Morgan Award and the Goi Peace Prize for contributing to “the revitalization of cultural and biological diversity, and the strengthening of local communities and economies worldwide.”
Helena is author of the inspirational classic Ancient Futures, and Local is Our Future and producer of the award-winning documentary The Economics of Happiness, of Planet Local and Closer to Home.
Dr. Julia Kim
Dr. Julia Kim is a global wellbeing and Wellbeing Economics expert, program facilitator, and researcher. She is an explorer of the terrain connecting inner transformation and broader systems change, drawing on her past career as a physician and public health researcher in Africa and Asia, Senior Policy Advisor at the United Nations (UNDP and UNICEF), Executive Committee member of the Club of Rome, and International Program Leader at the GNH Centre Bhutan. She integrates global experience in the fields of leadership development, contemplative practice, program design, research, and policy in the fields of wellbeing, wellbeing economics, global health, and sustainable development.
